Virtual Business Card

Privacy Policy

Your cards stay on your device. You decide what to share. Here is how the app and our optional support form handle information.

Last updated:

1. Who we are and what this covers

SianTech provides Virtual Business Card. This policy covers the mobile app and support enquiries about it. SianTech is responsible for personal information received through those enquiries. Contact us at hello@siantech.net. Browsing the SianTech website is covered separately by our website Privacy Policy.

2. Cards stored on your device

The app stores the profiles you create on your device: card labels, names, company, job title, phone number, email, website, address, notes, and creation and update timestamps. You choose which details to enter. Creating and editing cards does not require an account or an internet connection.

The app does not upload your card collection to SianTech or provide its own cloud synchronisation. Your operating system may include app data in device backups, depending on your settings. Device and backup providers handle that data under their own policies.

3. QR codes, sharing and exported files

A QR code contains the contact details themselves, including any notes you entered. Anyone who can scan or photograph it may read and save those details. Review all fields before showing a code or sharing a card.

Email and native sharing create a vCard (.vcf) file in the app cache and pass it to the service you choose. Your email, messaging, storage or sharing provider and the recipient may retain copies under their own policies. Deleting a card cannot recall a shared file, screenshot or saved contact.

4. Information sent when you contact us

If you submit the optional contact form, we receive your name, email address and message. Our server stores the enquiry with a submission timestamp and read status, and sends a copy by email so we can respond. Cards are not automatically attached; any details you include in your message will be sent.

Our hosting and email services also process technical information needed to deliver and protect communications, such as IP addresses and request metadata. Please avoid sending passwords or sensitive personal information in support messages.

5. Why we use information

We use support information to answer questions, investigate reported problems and protect our services from abuse. Where UK or EU data protection law applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in providing support and maintaining secure services, balanced against your rights. We may also process information where necessary to meet a legal obligation. We do not use support messages for advertising, and the app does not include advertising or analytics tracking SDKs. We do not sell your personal information or use it for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

6. Service providers and disclosures

Support enquiries are handled by SianTech and the hosting, database and email providers used to receive, store and answer them. We may disclose information when required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

Provider processing locations can differ from your country. Where an international transfer is subject to data protection restrictions, appropriate safeguards are required, such as an applicable adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the providers and safeguards relevant to your enquiry.

7. Retention and deletion

Cards remain in app storage until you delete them or remove the app data. Uninstalling normally removes local app data, but device backups and exported files may remain. Sharing files can remain in the app cache until overwritten or cleared by the app or operating system. Manage backup copies using your device or backup provider settings.

Support records are retained for as long as needed to resolve your enquiry, handle related follow-up and address applicable legal or security needs. Retention depends on whether the issue remains open, whether a dispute or legal obligation requires the record, and whether it is still needed for that purpose. You can request deletion of support records by email; this is separate from deleting cards on your device.

8. Protecting your information

No storage or transmission method is completely secure. Use a device passcode, keep your operating system up to date, and only share cards with people and services you trust. The app does not provide a separate password-protected vault for cards. We cannot recover a card collection that we do not hold.

9. Your choices and rights

You can view, edit, export and delete cards in the app, and use the card features without sending a support message. For information held by SianTech, applicable law may give you rights of access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability and objection, including objection to processing based on legitimate interests. These rights are subject to legal conditions.

Email hello@siantech.net to make a request. We may need information to verify your identity and locate your enquiry. You may also complain to your local data protection authority; in the UK, contact the Information Commissioner’s Office.

10. Children’s privacy

The app is a general business-contact tool, not a service directed at children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us and you want it removed, contact us. Avoid placing children’s details in cards or messages unless you have the appropriate authority and a lawful reason to do so.

11. Changes to this policy

We will update this page and its date when our practices change. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate notice, and any consent required by law will be requested before the relevant processing begins.
